A green dot shows below the profile picture when a user is online. You can check out the green status indicator dot in your Direct inbox and friends list. The app lets you view the status of the people you follow and the ones with whom you have talked using the Direct.
How to Turn Off Instagram Online Status Indicator on iPhone and Android
Step #1. Open Instagram on your device. Step #2. Now, tap on the profile tab at the bottom right corner of the screen. Step #3. Next, on your iOS device, you need to tap on the gear icon. On your Android device, you have to tap on the three vertical dots placed at the top right corner of the screen. Step #4. Next up, tap on Activity Status. Step #5. Finally, turn off the switch next to Show Activity Status. That’s pretty much it! Going forward, no one can see when you go online. Moreover, you won’t be able to see others activity status either.
